So we are back with the manga as it has been a while since I got around to reading any, so let’s continue with the Food Wars series.
The assignment is to invent a new dish worthy of appearing on the high-class Totsuki Resort’s breakfast menu. To create their dishes, Soma and his friends use the combined knowledge and confidence they’ve gained while at the cooking camp to individually pass the challenge—everyone, that is, except for Soma! Having made a critical error, he finds himself behind with little time left. What can he do to overcome his biggest hurdle yet?!
Taken from goodreads
From the off I really enjoyed this volume, and it was because of one simple reason Soma made a mistake. He has finally shown us all that he isn’t the god of cooking after all and is capable of making mistakes. We get to see him come to terms with his mistake and try and think of a way to get around it as well as show the people judging the challenge what he can do in a panic.
We unfortunately do not get to see much of Megumi in this volume which is a shame but we do instead get to see him interact more with people he used to be friends with in his old school as well as a few other side characters which I did enjoy getting to know more.
It was great to get a more story based volume, where yes there is some food action but we get to learn a little bit more about the science around food and how people think about food.
I am looking forward to the next book in the series but it might be some time till I get to it due to being on a book buying ban.
