Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma Vol 4 Review

Now after the cliffhanger that vol 3 left us on, I had to go out and buy the next volume instantly. I both love and hate when a series does that, well I love it my bank account hates it. So what did I think of Vol 4

Let the shokugeki begin! Soma has challenged Totsuki graduate Chef Shinomiya in order to prevent Megumi’s pending expulsion. However, thanks to a condition levied by Gin Dojima, the match turns in an unexpected direction! With such a foolhardy challenge, can Soma and Megumi win to survive another day?

Taken from goodreads

Soma really does think he has got enough skill to be able to take on a graduate in order to save Megumi but as soon as the challenge starts it turns out that both Megumi and Soma are going to have to play sides they didn’t expect with Megumi playing the head chef instead of Soma. I loved this as we get to see how Soma is when he has to go back to his roots as working as a 2nd chef (as he did when he used to work with his dad) and we get to see if Megumi has the skills and backbone to be a head chef.

Instantly I was gripped by the story and wanted to see and know everything that was going on. At some parts I even forgot that both Soma and Meguimi were cooking to try and keep their places in the school.

Once again I am so invested in the friendship/relationship bollosming between Soma and Megumi as they both seem to be total opposites in the kitchen but I think both sort of need each other at the same time. I think Soma is starting to realise that he cant do everything himself and will need backup.

And of course in traditional Food Wars style, they have left this volume on a cliffhanger and now I need to buy the fifth volume. I think I am just going to buy a box set to save some money as I am loving this series.
