I really enjoyed the first book in the series and couldn’t wait to get around to reading this book but for some reason it took me 2 months to get around to buying this book but anyway, here we are and this is what I think of the book.
Adelina Amouteru’s heart has suffered at the hands of both family and friends, turning her down the bitter path of revenge. Now known and feared as the White Wolf, she flees Kenettra with her sister to find other Young Elites in the hopes of building her own army of allies. Her goal: to strike down the Inquisition Axis, the white-cloaked soldiers who nearly killed her.
But Adelina is no heroine. Her powers, fed only by fear and hate, have started to grow beyond her control. She does not trust her newfound Elite friends. Teren Santoro, leader of the Inquisition, wants her dead. And her former friends, Raffaele and the Dagger Society, want to stop her thirst for vengeance. Adelina struggles to cling to the good within her. But how can someone be good when her very existence depends on darkness?
Taken from goodreads
Once again I love being back in this dark world and seeing everything that Adelina is going through. This sets this series apart from any of the others I have faced, all the others try to find some happy parts for the main character to cling to, not this series, Marie Lu seems to be embracing the darkness and I am loving every single second of it.
Now in the first book I found myself struggling to care about any of the other characters except for Adelina, however now there are at least 3 others I care about and want good things to happen to them. Those being Raffaele, Violetta and Magaino, to me they all deserve good things to happen to them no matter how twisted they might actually be.
The romance aspect is also something I am enjoying now, to me there always seems to be a different love interest happening and I do enjoy that as it shows that with all the illusions that Adelina is making, love is now becoming one of them and I can’t wait to see what else this brings for her.
This has reignited my love of this type of fantasy book and after I read a stand alone real quick then I will be finishing this series as soon as possible as I just need to know more about this world and where the story is going to end.
