Food Wars! ShokugekI no Soma Vol. 2 Review

I loved the first installment in this series and because of that I instantly bought a few more books in the series so I can start this journey that I think is going to be fantastic.

Leaving home for the first time in his young life, Soma moves into the Polaris Dormitory—a place run by an old crone and filled with crazy and eccentric students! Barely settled in, Soma quickly finds himself in one of Totsuki’s legendary cooking duels—a shokugeki! Who will his very first opponent be?

I love seeing how Soma is now reacting to the place he is going to be spending the next few years (if he doesn’t get expelled of course). He is starting to make friends and these characters are all very interesting and a joy to read about. I love seeing the budding friendship between Soma and Megumi, even though they are polar opposites in the confidence department they seem to pair well together.

The introduction of what I guess is the reason behind the title and the food battles (or food wars) is amazing, you get so much information about different types of food and with the mixture of the fast pace of cooking with the art style is simple fantastic and I can’t wait to see more of these in the future.

Art style is once again fantastic and I am enjoying seeing all the cooking scenes and how well the art style is making all of the food look.

I personally don’t think I have enjoyed a start to a manga series like this for a very long time (yes I haven’t read that many but still the point is made), I am so glad I bought the third volume as well so I can jump straight into that one.
