Death Note Black Edition Volume 1

I have only recently started getting into Manga and everywhere I look everyone seems to say the same thing and that is that Death Note is one of the best so thought why not give it a go first.

Light Yagami is an ace student with great prospects–and he’s bored out of his mind. But all that changes when he finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by a rogue Shinigami death god. Any human whose name is written in the notebook dies, and now Light has vowed to use the power of the Death Note to rid the world of evil. But when criminals begin dropping dead, the authorities send the legendary detective L to track down the killer. With L hot on his heels, will Light lose sight of his noble goal…or his life?

Taken from goodreads

The first thing that you will notice when reading this manga is just how good the art looks, you are able to see a lot of detail when needed and not only that but the faces do a great job in showing what emotion each of the characters is having which is always a bonus. However my personal favourite art that the book has got to offer is the detailed ones at the very beginning of the book as it shows you what the artist can actually do when it is not just in black and white and I have to say I much prefer this.

Story wise the first book is really good as it does a good job of introducing the main characters and giving us an incentive to care about them and the decisions that they make. Light wants the world to be a better place and the best way for that to happen in his mind is for all the criminals to die and when people see that if they commit crimes then they will also die which will basically stop all crime, however this does involve killing people which is why L is after Light as Light is becoming something that he hates and that is a criminal. The whole story is basically going to be about who is smarter, the police department and L or one teenager in his bedroom.

This is a great way to start a series and all it has done is make me want to jump straight into the next book and find out what L and Light are going to do next.
