After really liking the graphic novel of the first book in this series I wanted to read the next one, plus I have wanted to re read this series for a while so this is a good way to do that again. Anyway, it is time for a review.
In this exciting second installment of the three-book series, Carter and Sadie, offspring of the brilliant Egyptologist Dr. Julius Kane, embark on a worldwide search for the Book of Ra, but the House of Life and the gods of chaos are determined to stop them.
Taken from goodreads
The story is the exact same as the original book with no differences from what I can see and remember from my time reading the second book. This is a great thing as it means we get to see every part of the great story in picture. My personal favourite was getting to see Bes and his powers of ugly in full effect.
The story itself is full of twist and turns and gods just what you expect from a rick riordan book which does mean as soon as you pick it up you don’t want to put it back down again. The relationship between Sadie and Carter is what you expect from a brother and sister, they argue at times but in the end they are both after the same thing and want what is best for each. Having a brother and sister as main characters is something I am personally not used to so it is great to see this in a graphic novel.
The art itself is what is really important in making a graphic novel go from good to great, this is why is this graphic novel series is only going to get a good from me. I said in my review of the first book that I really liked the art but I think that was just the excitement of getting to read a rick riordan graphic novel for the first time. I do like the fact they haven’t tried to make the characters look realistic but they could of tried harder with the faces of the characters as coming from someone who struggles to draw a stickman i I think i could of done better with some of the character models. The magic and the scenery are great but they seemed to of slipped up with the faces.
With just how action packed this book was it makes me want to jump straight into the next book and find out what happens in the final book but amazon dont delivery in less than a hour to my house. I have been Aaron Morrsi and I’ll see you next time.
