Jack Whitehall: Travels With My Father Season 1 Review

I love Jack Whitehall, I think he is an amazing comedian and I have loved every show I have seen of his but I had no idea that he was doing this show so when I saw it on Netflix I instantly started watching. Anyway, it is time for a review.

The show is about Jack and his 77 year old father going on a 5 week gap year to three of the most popular gap year destinations, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. He wants to show his dad the world and what it can offer. This means going clubbing, getting matching tattoos and just seeing how amazing the world really is.

I think the premise of this show is great and is seems like the sort of show I would watch without the comedy factor but with it being there it just made the show that much better. You get to see what these three different country’s have got in common and what separates them from the rest of the world. You get to see both ends of the scale from the very poor to the very rich and how vast the two lifestyles differ in the countries.

Jack was hilarious throughout the show being his camp self with jokes being made the whole time, this show will show you exactly what sort of person Jack is and what his personality is like and if anything it just made me like him even more. Even though Jack is the comedian it doesn’t mean his dad didn’t join in. His dad is very set in his old fashioned ways and the whole point of the journey is to try and get his dad out of this. At first Micheal is very grumpy and looks like he doesn’t want to be there but by the end of the trip it is almost as if Micheal is a different person all together and that might be the reason why Jack calls him Mike now.

One thing I want to mention is some of the shots that the show has, it is these shots that will make you go wow when you see the beauty that these places have got. The mixture of the ground and drone shots are amazing. From the ground you get to see the street vendors selling there product to the people walking by with there multicoloured carts while from above you will see all the buildings and just how different they are more the western countries.

The show is hilarious and getting to see the bond grow between father and son is fantastic. I recommend that everyone watches this as it has got something for everyone. I’ve been Aaron Morrsi and I will see you next time.
