After enjoying the first book in the series I wanted to find out more about this world, this meant going out and buying the next book in the series as soon as I possibly can. Anyway, it is time for a review.
We start of this volume right after the end of the first one, Eren has been swallowed hole by a titan with his arm and leg being cut off. This means it is going to be up to Erens friend Mikasa and Armin to try to stop the Titan invasion and try to get the public behind the next wall to make sure as many people survive as possible.
The story behind this volume is better than the first in my opinion, the reason for this is that it goes into more detail about what the characters are thinking and what they are trying to do. Not only that, but we get to see the back story of the relationship between Eren and Mikasa which is great as we know at first that they aren’t related but that was about it. The whole book takes place in less than a day which is great as it means we get more details about the titans and the rest of the Cadet corps and find out what the characters are best at such as Armin as a great brain but is not physically gifted.
I said in my last review that I both love and hate the art style that this manga has, and I still have the same opinion. The art is great when the characters are just talking to each other, and we get to see the detail on their faces and the surrounding areas but as soon as they have to go anywhere then it changes as they are trying to make everything look fast paced which just means the rest of the art seems to lose its quality.
The first book gave us information on the kit that the cadets use which was a brilliant feature as it meant we got to know more about this world and how the cadets plan on beating the titans, this time around we get information about the titans such as the size difference between them all and what the people of the world have called each type of titan.
I think this volume is better than the first just because of the story, it makes you want to keep reading to try to find out what is going to happen next. I’ve been Aaron Morrsi and I’ll see you next time.
