American Sniper (2015) Review

This is a movie I have heard about and heard good things too but for some reason I never fancied watching it till my friend put it on, so I basically had no choice but to see it. Anyway, it is time for a review.

We follow the life of Chris Kyle whos from Texas, where he is a professional cowboy. After finishing work early one day and catching his girlfriend cheating on him, he makes the decision to join the Navy. While in his training he meets Taya in a bar, after hitting it off they decide to keep seeing each other and eventually marry. It is on their wedding day that they find out that Chris is going to be sent to Iraq, this is where he picks up the nickname the Legend.

That is all I want to say on the story as the story is very good in this movie and if I spoil the whole thing for you then you won’t want to go and watch the movie. From start to finish I was engrossed into the story line. It grips you because there is never a quiet moment, this movie is basically 100% story with no filler which is great to see. Every little thing that happens in the movie happens for a reason. There seems to be two stories happening at the same time with the same guy being in the centre of it which makes for a very interesting watch.

You can see the quality in the movie from the start, they have tried to make it look older because of when the story is set (2001) and it has been done very well. If you didn’t know that the movie was made in 2014 then other than the quality of the recording you wouldn’t be able to tell it wasn’t recorded in 2001.

The acting is also brilliant, Bradley Cooper (Chris Kyle) played his part to perfection, from when he was commanding his team in warfare to him struggling with PTSD while looking after his children I find it almost impossible to fault his acting. The same can be said for Sienna Miller (Taya Kyle) who is trying to look after her three children as well as her husband who she can’t understand why he is changing. As the two main actors they gave the audience a great performance and it makes me want to go and have a look at some of their other work to see if they are just as a good.

If you are struggling for a movie to watch then give this one a go. Some people might not like it due to how gory it is but if you want to see some amazing work revolving around the war and what it is like for not just the people who are at the war but the families as well then this will tell you everything you need to know. Anyway, Ive been Aaron Morrsi and I’ll see you next time.
